General Surgery
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
I was graduated from Hacettepe University School of Medicine. I did my my residency in Department of General Surgery at the same University. My residency thesis was funded by Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (Tübitak). I led my career in endocrine (thyroid; breast & adrenal) and minimal invasive surgery including appointments at the Ankara Numune Education & Training Hospital; Acıbadem Kadıköy Hospital, Anadolu Medical Centre, Acıbadem Bodrum Hospital and at last returned to Anadolu Medical Centre. My main research and scientific activity interest is surgical infections. I worked for “National (Turkish) Surgical Infection Prophylaxis Guideline” on behalf of ‘Surgical Infection Society - Turkey’ which I’m not only the founding member but also Board member from the very begining. And now I’m the Secretary of the society. I have been actively working for Surgical Infection Society – Europe for the last 25 years. I was the Congress Secretary of the 21st European Congress on Surgical Infection. This is my 7th year at the Council; after 3 years of “Councilar at large” and 3 years as the Recorder of the Society this year I was elected as the Secretary SIS-E.
I am also founder member of World Surgical Infection Alliance. I’ve been working for World Society of Emergency Surgery lately and co-author of ‘Global declaration on appropriate use of antibiotics. Use Antibiotics Appropriately to Address Antibiotic Resistance’ declaration that will be published soon.
